Beat lab Presentation
Beatlab
A music production service in which users can buy and download sounds, software, and samples all in one place.
We bring a trusted service where users can up their production value and level up their sound
Problem:
Now, one of the main issues surrounding music production for beginners especially. Is the high cost for entry into the hobby.
FL Studios a very popular digital audio workstation costs 199 pounds Ableton a similar service, costs 259 pounds, and logic pro costs just as expensive
and these are all the mid ranged prices as well. which don't include many important features or plugins that greatly help beginners when starting out.
which leads to my next point
In that, there seems to be this gatekeeping of quality from both companies and third party producers and developers. On FL, It can cost between 150 to 3000 pounds for baseline mixing and mastering software, and that's not even delving into some of the third party software you can buy. Which we will soon get into
Lastly, Learning music production can be hard, and its very complex for some users.
FL studio User's on reddit accounted that it could take 6 months to a year to learn the basics, with some users stating that they are still learning new features after 11 years of using the DAW

I will show you a quick picture on how FL looks on my desktop.
For me this looked like the cockpit to a 747, its notoriously know as being very difficult and confusing for beginners
So what is our solution:
We want to make it a lower cost for entry. Now we cant change the prices of FL or Ableton. However, we will maintain a low cost for our sample and sound packs. Going anywere from 10 pounds to 5 pounds to free
Alongside this, we will present cheaper alternatives for the plugins and external features that can be added to a users DAW
Overall, we want to make it cheaper and simpler for beginners in this field
Market :
So what's the market looking like
Well self-releasing artists actually saw their revenues grow by 27%, in 2020
and this continued to grow. As we can now see that in 2024, they own nearly half on the market ownership in the music industry.
And its been widely known that since covid, and the increase popularity of TikTok, independent artists have grown dramatically
So what does this mean
Well it means they own 14 billion dollars in revenue as of 2024
and for a industry this costly, there's only a handful of cheap alternatives
Meaning our potential target audience could be huge

Cost:
Since we are using Wix, development on the website is completely free, and delivering our content to our audience is also free via email.
As for our sound library that we will be selling
I can create my own sounds, sample packs and drum kits that we can then sell on the website. but I cant do that forever.
We could hire a team but doing that this early into our business venture could be too expensive and time consuming.
The only other viable option for a start up company such as this would be to license the sounds and sfx from companies like splice, and this will greatly benefit us. As Its around 20 a month and their catalogue is expansive.
And Splice lets users uses their products for monetary gain https://splice.com/plans
Finally, the plugins. Which can get pretty expensive Costing anywere from 8,000-100,000 which is a little bit out of our scope.
Even a small project with a small team could cost 12,000. Which is what Lindon Parker, a music software engineer, found when developing his. He though it would be 8000

Collaboration is what makes success. Giving the vst developers a platform while also bringing more traffic to our site
So for now Licensing is the only option
And if we use splice as our main source for our collection then thats only £240 a year and it would take us around a year or two until we start making ground and begin production on our own sounds and plugins.
Meaning our intial margin for cost is rather small as we can invest more into our product at a later date.
